SALLY DOVE

Born in Kenya
Studied at the Michaelis School of Fine Art

1971 Winner of First National Multiple-Sculpture competition, exhibited in Johannesburg. 1973-5 Returned to South Africa after traveling through Europe and India.
1979 Dedicated to black and white photography.
1980 Polaroid photography.
1981 Worked for Star newspaper in Johannesburg.
One-person exhibition of Polaroids at the Association of Arts, Cape Town.
Polaroids sold at Sotheby’s, New York.
1983 Exhibition of Polaroids at Jack Heath Gallery, University of Natal.
1984 Illustrated The Mischief Maker by Diana Pitcher.
1987 Exhibition of illustrations at First International Symposium on children’s books, Stellenbosch.
1990 Moved to Franschhoek after working at the SA Museum, Cape Town as curator and photographer in Invertebrate Paleontology for eight years.
1994-6 Ceramic exhibitions in Paarl and Cape Town.
1998 Exhibition of works on paper at Gallery 68, Cape Town.
1999 Exhibition at Atlantic Gallery, Cape Town.
2001 Participated in group exhibition titled Equus at Dorp Street Gallery, Stellenbosch.
2002 Participated in group exhibitions at Hout Street Gallery, Paarl and Dorp Street Gallery, Stellenbosch.
2003 One-person exhibition of limited scanned prints of Polaroids at Steven Harris Gallery, New York.
2004 Group exhibitions at Jean Welz Gallery in Worcester.
2005 Group exhibitions at Cape Gallery and Hout Street Gallery.
