Born 1967 in Pretoria, Gauteng
Received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree (cum laude) in 1989 from the University of Pretoria, majoring in sculpture and visual communications. Thereafter Susanna trained at the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture in Princeton, New Jersey, U.S.A. After completing a four-year internship in 1994, she received her technical certificate in all aspects of foundry work.
While in the United States she was invited to participate in several group and two-person-shows throughout the Eastern Seaboard including New York and Philadelphia.
From 1995 to 1996 Susanna was contracted as Foundry Manager by Art Casting BVBA in Oudenaarde, Belgium, where she converted the foundry from solid investment casting to a state-of-the-art ceramic shell facility.
Susanna returned to South Africa in 1997. Since then she took part in numerous solo and group exhibitions and received the ABSA Achievement Award for her contribution to the Arts in 2003. She lives and works in Pretoria.

Technical experience;
Sculpture: Welding (MIG). TIG, Oxy-fuel, ARC). Fabrication with wood, stainless, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, cement. Modeling with cement, oil and waterbased clays and polystyrene.
Foundry: Casting-Iron, silver, copper, bronze, aluminium. Lost wax method, ceramic shell. Sand molding with green, Petrobond and resin-bonded sands. Hot and cold patination of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stone and cement.
