TITIA BALLOT
She was born ( 1941) in Clocolan, Orange Free State and studied at the University of Pretoria. In 1988 she became head of the department of Fine Arts of the University of Potchefstroom. From 1982–1985 she lived in Bonn and assisted her husband who was cultural attaché there.

From 1992-97 she was employed on a part time basis by the Sasol Art Museum of the University of Stellenbosch. Here she was responsible for curating and exhibiting the University’s permanent collections in the fields of art, anthropology and archeology.

Titia lives and works in Stellenbosch.

She has presented 17 solo exhibitions to date and regularly takes part in national as well as international group exhibitions.

She has twice been granted residency at the Frans Masereel Centre for Printmaking in Kasterlee, Belgium.

Preferred media: Multi plate colour etchings, hand printed, numbered and signed by the artist herself in small editions. She often uses photographic and Chine Colle techniques (pasting thin Japanese paper onto the etching during the printing process).
